Guillermo Toro joined Depósito Central de Valores (DCV) in 2017. He first served as an IT Risk Engineer and then as an Assistant Manager in the Corporate Architecture Department until December 2022, when he undertook the challenge of leading the Architecture and Development Management. "I hope to contribute with knowledge and experience in technology, applying them to DCV and contributing to the Company's growth," he states.

What does your department do?

The Architecture and Development Management is in charge of addressing the requirements and needs of internal and external clients through the use of technology, which later becomes software development projects. One of our roles is to ensure that each one of the projects that we undertake and develop is in line with the commercial and business vision of our Company.

The software design, development, and deployment process aims to optimize the use of time and resources, looking for efficiency in the iterations between building components, validation tests, and quality assurance, concluding with the go-live. This is achieved with multidisciplinary teams that integrate their expertise in different projects to optimize resolution and response times and deploy new functionalities and the services that DCV provides to the Chilean financial industry.

The DCV Evolution project was an important milestone for the Company and the team. What did this process mean to you? What were the most important aspects of it for you?

It was a great challenge from the technology point of view and the work and personal point of view. It put the competencies and skills of the entire team to the test. It allowed us to learn the financial industry's best practices and implement state-of-the-art technology with the support of a world-class company such as Nasdaq.

DCV Evolution catapulted the hard work of all teams involved to great heights, where we saw the results of the quest for operational efficiency through streamlined technology.

What are the challenges that you see for DCV in the future?

The main challenge in terms of technology is to keep the Company current, with a strong focus on optimizing the business processes, reducing the time-to-market and cybersecurity. And as part of this quest, we are looking into promoting the adoption of expeditiousness as the new way of interacting between the different managements to center our efforts on listening to our clients, reducing internal overhead, and improving response times in the evaluation and development of new initiatives.

Guillermo Toro is a Computer and IT Systems Engineer from Universidad de Las Américas, Ecuador. In 2012, he moved to Santiago, where he enrolled in the IT Master's Degree Program at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María and then in the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) Program at Universidad de Los Andes.
