If you have invested in shares, bonds, or investment funds, you must already be familiar with ANNA (Association of National Numbering Agencies.) It is a worldwide Association of National Numbering Agencies that gathers members and partners from more than 100 jurisdictions. Each must assign a unique identification code to all new securities issued and then manage them during their life.

ANNA celebrated its 30th anniversary as an association, and Claudio Garín, Operations and Services Manager of Depósito Central de Valores (DCV), is a member of its board.

"For DCV, it is an honor to be part of the Board of such an important institution for the operation of international financial markets,"
said Mr. Garín, who has been a member of the Board since June 2018.

ANNA aims to consolidate and provide reliable, accurate, and timely means to identify and describe securities than can be used by all nations and their markets, providing certainty about their existence and attributes.

One of ANNA's most significant achievements has been the global adoption of a standard to identify securities, ISIN (International Securities Identification Number), as per ISO 6166 standard. The securities of more than 120 countries are identified through this ISIN code. Thanks to it, it does not matter where securities are issued because they can be identified through their ISIN code, allowing buyers and sellers to trade them from practically anywhere in the world.

ANNA is committed to using standard IDs to make the financial world a more efficient, safe, and stable one for investors and the financial institutions providing services to them.

The members of ANNA are the National Numbering Agencies (NNAs), where DCV, through its subsidiary DCV Asesorías y Servicios, has been operating for more than 20 years, and they have a crucial role in the financial markets of their nations, as well as in the global markets. As a group, they provide daily updates to the ANNA services office that consolidates the global database. Its activity is to accept registration information directly from the issuers of new financial instruments such as shares, bonds, and derivatives to issue codes that uniquely identify them.

Once each new instrument has been registered and a new International Securities Identification Number (ISIN), FISN, and a Classification of Financial Instrument codes (CFI) have been issued, NNAs keep the validity of registration data. With more than 82 million ISINs, ANNA contributes to harmonizing international standards.
