The Ministry of Women and the Ministry of Labor launched a Decalogue to promote women’s participation in the financial world.

Some months ago, Depósito Central de Valores (DCV) was invited to become part of Mujeres en Finanzas (Women in Finance), the first public-private partnership whose aim is to promote and increase women’s participation in the financial industry. The initiative comprises the Ministry of Women and Gender Equality, The Undersecretariat of Labor, and Mujeres en Finanzas Corporation, together with 26 entities (20 companies and six associations), including DCV.

The working group was established in July 2021. Its main objective is directly related to the participation of women in the workplace, which is still a significant challenge for our country.

“At DCV, we are committed to promoting and implementing practices that encourage the participation of women in the world of finance,” said Erika Barrios, Head of Organizational Development and Collaborator Experience of DCV, who is the Company’s representative in the group.

The decalogue contains a data standardization analysis that allows measuring the current participation of women in companies up to a series of proposals and measures to promote inclusion.

The Decalogue’s principles are the following:

  1. Analyzing indicators for a better data collection and standardization process on women’s participation at all company levels.
  2. Analyzing the data collected and promoting transparency to obtain an insight into women’s participation.
  3. Creating a diversity and inclusion committee that promotes women’s diversification in the industry to improve their representation in the industry.
  4. Bringing the main financial industries in the world and Universities together to attract young talents.
  5. Opening up learning and collaboration opportunities both inside and outside companies.
  6. Making sure that recruitment processes do not include unconscious gender biases.
  7. Promoting co-responsibility and work-life balance between men and women to promote inclusiveness.
  8. Promoting the role of women in leadership positions within the industry.
  9. Creating internal protocols and policies that adjust to legal regulations and challenge moving beyond borders.
  10. Eradicating violence against women.

The 20 companies and associations that conform the Women in Finance working group are: Ameris Capital, Banks and Financial Institutions Association (ABIF), Asociación de Fondos Mutuos de Chile A.G. (AAFM), Asociación Chilena Administradoras de Fondos de Inversión (ACAFI), Asociación de Administradoras de Fondos de Pensiones (AAFP), Asociación de Aseguradores de Chile A.G.
