The purpose of the audit is to confirm the proper functioning of business continuity processes. Through its Business Continuity and Information Security area, DCV managed to satisfy for yet another consecutive year the annual review process of its ISO 22301 certification, granted to the company since 2014, by the British Standards Institution (BSI), a British company that prepares standards for Europe, which then become ISO.

This achievement has been the result of a longstanding effort that the company has undertaken since it began, as explained by the head of this team, André Medel, who detailed what this process consists of and the importance for DCV to meet these high quality standards.

Since its first years, the company has worked on business continuity issues, reflected in the design of its processes, the election and implementation of its infrastructure, focused on high availability and selection, training and evaluation of its collaborators and, “although we were already working on the BS25999 British standard since 2009, it was not until 2011 that we focused on the certification born of the senior management, who decided that we were to validate everything we had in continuity with respect to international good practices.” In 2013, DCV was certified in the BS25999 standard, of the BSI.

His diagnosis on the situation of Chile in this great technological change was clear: “Chilean work is two steps behind”, noting that we lack specialized careers in new technologies, such as the BigData area, a discipline that is practically not taught in the country’s universities.

DCV was the second private company in Chile that, by then, met these demanding standards. It is also worth bearing in mind that the coverage involves all of its critical business services, all the processes that support it and the people who participate in them.
After obtaining one of these certifications, a normal certification follow-up flow begins, and every three years, the company undergoes a re-certification process, implying a complete review of all the requirements of the standard. DCV already underwent this process in 2016, and a follow-up was performed this year, which the audit firm does every year. “For this purpose, we once again chose BSI to accompany us in this process, since in our opinion, it is the most prestigious company in the certification area,” concludes Medel. gc03 web continuidad ing

In parallel, the Business Continuity and Information Security area is working to build an information security management system, in compliance with the ISO 27001 standard, and whose scope shall be the same as the current certification: the most critical services plus information processes, services and assets. “The commitment is for us to begin the ISO 27001 standard certification process by late 2018” concludes Medel.
