With an audience made up of important representatives of the country’s companies of the financial sector, the seminar “El futuro es hoy” was held, with the participation of the outstanding business engineer and talk show panelist, Sergio Melnick, who analyzed the challenge we face in light of the evolutionary leap arising from technological development, calling on the private sector to collaborate and to create a “technological beacon” to guide the development of the country.

The General Manager, Fernando Yáñez, participated in this event, along with a group of directors and executives of DCV and DCV Registros.

The discussion addressed the acceleration of cultural and economic changes arising from new technologies. “Reality is changing. You cannot use an old map for a new road. We must rethink everything”, was one of the initiating points of the lecture of the executive of major companies and principal speaker.

His diagnosis on the situation of Chile in this great technological change was clear: “Chilean work is two steps behind”, noting that we lack specialized careers in new technologies, such as the BigData area, a discipline that is practically not taught in the country’s universities.

We are late, due to history”, criticizing the lack of spaces for development that former generations have left to new ones, delaying an actual change of thought. He also recalled that until the 1970s, the country had high rates of illiteracy and that only a minimum percentage of the population had access to college education, which shows that as a nation, we are delayed in the development of the human talent we should have today.

However, he said that Chile needs to guide its development towards that future, which is inevitable and will be increasingly technological and complex. “The key is collaboration. There must be a group of people from the companies themselves, responsible for creating a permanent technological beacon, “to take the lead in the technological development that we need to include, as soon as possible, in our country”, he concluded.

On the other hand, Sergio Melnick stated that human evolution was possible because man developed the ability to remember what it had learned through time. In his opinion, memory and filing, i.e., knowledge and the way of storing it, are the evolutionary keys of human beings. “We are currently in digital files, the files are digitalized in form (...) We are entering the digital language, but the new era is BigData, 3.0 web and 4.0 web”, gc03 web charla esp

Melnick took the opportunity to announce the coming release of his new book: “Digitalización sí o sí”, which will be presented on October 4th at CasaPiedra.
