Worldwide, ANNA is the association that seeks the global adoption of common identification standards according to ISO 6166 with the purpose of making the financial world more efficient and secure. To meet this purpose, ANNA designates national numbering agencies in each country and, in the case of Chile, Depósito Central de Valores is the national numbering agency.

The securities of over 120 countries are identified through ISIN (International Securities Identification Number) codes which regardless of where they were issued for the first time, allows them to be recognized and traded between buyers and sellers from anywhere in the world. 

The members of ANNA are known as NNAs (National Numbering Agencies) and they have an essential role in the financial sector of their country: accepting the registration of information from issuers for new instruments like shares or bonds for the assignment of unique identification codes regardless of their term.

Among its members are Central Banks, Central Securities Depositories, Data Vendors, Regulators and Stock Exchanges, entities that were authorized to perform this role on behalf of their economy and to support the local financial sector.

What is the ISIN code?

Each market must assign a code called an ISIN to the financial instruments that will be traded globally, which has a series of other codes that allow the corresponding identification. The ISIN acts as unique identifier worldwide and is required to trade the security in many markets.

The ISIN does not provide related information; it only identifies it.

How do you request an ISIN?

Currently, DCV assigns the ISIN and CFI automatically to all new issues from the Central Bank and the Treasury Department, in addition to stock corporation bonds, shares and investment fund instalments, and upon the market’s request, for the rest of the instruments deposited with DCV.

This information is registered in the database managed by ANNA through the ASB web platform (ANNA Services Bureau).

What is CFI?

ECFI allows the identification of the type of instrument and the characteristics that are maintained during the lifespan of the instrument since its issuance such as voting rights, transfer restrictions, payment status definition and terms of payment, among others.
