Juan Carlos Melys, Commercial Assistant Manager made a positive balance for 2015, both regarding income and the new clients that became DCV participants, emphasizing the fulfilment of the activities and goals planned, considering a restrictive economic situation for the country. 

The principal figures with respect to the business management show a growth in all lines of business, where the National Custody service recorded a 5.42% increase in income in relation to the previous year; DCV Registros, a 5.72% increase; Forward, a 9.64% rise and the International Custody service, a 25.82% increase. Although the latter was low as opposed to the original budget, Melys values the results, as the challenge was greater than that of the other services. 

“2015 was much better than 2014 and in relation to the budget most services complied. It has been four years since we have projected a growth ranging from 30-35% in International Custody, and the results show a growth close to 26%, a figure, which though good, is lower than expected. There is important progress, but we know that we have to do more. We believe in the added value our service provides and it is time to reach more clients”, he said.

Last year, 9 participants in National Custody and 15 clients in International Custody subscribed an agreement with DCV, and 36 with DCV Registros.

Challenges for 2016

Melys explained that new goals were set for 2016 regarding the different services, incorporating the economic reality of the country. In this sense, the projections for the international custody approach a 34.5% growth; a 2.7% for the national custody; and a 1.9% for DCV Registros.

The executive stressed that in terms of new depositors, seven-income customers expect and to date, have already been incorporated two.

“2016 will be a challenging year. An economic scenario similar to last year’s is expected. We have already seen that January and February have been slower months as opposed to 2015, but we hope the trend will reverse in the future months. An essential motivation for the area is to fulfill and outgrow the budget, which though demanding, is also realistic, where the major effort of the area shall be focused on the business plan implementation. It is important for the fulfilment of the goals to have a specific work plan with defined and clear activities to meet such goals, as well as control tools  to monitor the development of the activities”, he said.

Furthermore, events tending to enhance clients´ loyalty will continue throughout the year, as well as the implementation of new services to provide the most suitable infrastructure, thus providing a better service. These are the following, among others:
