In the frame of annual planning done by the Depósito Central de Valores (DCV) on business continuity, a simulation exercise was successfully carried out in October with the participation of all company executives, principal assistant managers and heads of the Emergency Operational Committees that are the specialized teams which maintain the control and stability of the situation, minimizing the impact and losses arising from an incident.

On this occasion the “role playing” technique was used in this exercise to simulate a real-life situation which scenario, in this case, was an attack during business hours on a work day, affecting the following resources: facilities, technology supplier and staff. This allowed to test the continuity strategies designed in the context of the Business Continuity Management System.

DCV began the planning of this exercise last June, jointly with the firm Emergency Response Consulting, coordinating regular meetings to set the scenario and the changes that were to happen during the exercise, which lasted four hours. Towards this purpose, three modules were set: Crisis Management, Contention and Humanitarian Assistance and Press Services.
