The former Chair of Icare was the special guest of the first meeting in the "Capital Market Discussions Cycle" this year. Gazmuri discussed the importance of establishing relationships built on trust in business.

 

The event, which took place in Depósito Central de Valores's offices, was attended by DCV clients and important financial industry stakeholders, who, after the presentation, were part of an interesting discussion that addressed mostly the challenges regarding trust in the financial market.

The event, hosted by Rodrigo Roblero, General Manager, and Javier Jara, Legal and Corporate Affairs Manager of DCV, was an interesting instance for analysis that promotes relevant discussions for the industry and its link with financial market issues that are currently important for society.

During the presentation, Gazmuri said that the main challenge for the country is building trust. "We want companies that build virtuous relationships and bonds of trust with the people to whom they relate to create benefits that put the common good of our society in the center."

Trust, he added, "is part of the social collective, and by cultivating it, we open paths towards stronger institutions. We facilitate transparency and sustained growth by establishing relationships based on trust between investors, institutions, and regulators.".

Rodrigo Roblero underscored the need for the financial market to inspire trust. With this purpose in mind, "DCV focuses on promoting technology transformation in the market, offering state-of-the-art solutions that meet international standards," he added.

It must be mentioned that the attendees agreed that these discussions are needed to strengthen the capital market. Financial education was also mentioned as a crucial challenge to increase the level of trust from society in the financial sector.

The conversation addressed the services provided by Depósito Central de Valores (DCV) for fintech companies, the new regulation on those who sell digital financial products, and an outlook on the financial industry in Chile.

Strategic Projects and Businesses Leader of Depósito Central de Valores, Eduardo Roa, was invited to the new episode of the Finance 2100 podcast, an innovative show that dives deep into the future of global finance, offering a unique point of view on the emerging trends, disruptive technologies and strategies that are shaping the financial outlook of the 21st century.

In the podcast, Eduardo Roa talked about "Innovation in the Financial Structure." Then, he talked with hosts Rafel Gago and Nicolás Sadler about the role of DCV in the financial market and its future challenges.

Regarding one of the main services provided by DCV, custody, Roa underscored the certainty with which the company operates: "When you become responsible for someone's actions, you must provide security and trust. That work of ensuring that the shares and bonds that are declared exist or that they will be paid once they reach their maturity must be outsourced."

Due to this, it is necessary to have the multiple certifications, insurance, and internal and external audits that DCV has to operate with the highest international standards.

In addition to custody but within the same line of services offered, Roa talked about the CapTable service provided by our subsidiary DCV Registros to manage high-potential entrepreneur property registers (scale-ups) that seek funding opportunities in the Santiago Stock Exchange's ScaleX platform.

It is a simplified service to manage shareholders'/property registers that helps these businesses face their growth and consolidation. "These businesses are undoubtedly an opportunity to promote the securities market and broaden our services offering based on their needs, contributing with technological robustness and security to investment processes," he added.

Participation of DCV in the new Law

Regarding the new Fintec law, the conversation addressed the company's participation in the creation of the regulation through work groups with other players in the market. "We have constantly worked with fintechs and entrepreneurs because we believe they are one of the active engines of the country's economy." In this sense, Roa highlighted the contribution that DCV made in the regulatory aspect in terms of recommending best practices for the law to be efficient and, at the same time, responsible with the market.

For Depósito Central de Valores (DCV), it is vital to promote an organizational culture that is aligned with our strategy while promoting people's development and well-being.

Adaptation skills are vital to continue growing in an increasingly competitive financial market. Under that premise, DCV was challenged to develop a cultural transformation project whose purpose is to incorporate the best practices of each of its teams and create a "portfolio" to achieve our future objectives.

After implementing the new DCV Evolution platform, the Company is still undergoing a transformation process. "DCV Evolution did not only mean a technology change for the Company but also a cultural transformation for our collaborators," said Sandra Valenzuela, People and Culture Manager.

Through this transformative program, DCV advances in creating a more flexible company to adapt to its clients' challenges at the right pace. It is worth mentioning that in 2023, DCV's Management Team worked on aligning and defining the items and areas to be transformed, identifying and developing four projects to mobilize change and impact its organizational culture.

In this sense, Sandra adds that "transformation is a continuous process that will become our ally in the future. And we are convinced that people are the most important part of this transformation.

“We are pleased to have been part of this event that accredits our integrity and compliance practices and reflects our firm conviction that DCV's work must be conducted in strict compliance with corporate ethical and integrity values," said Sandra Valenzuela, People and Culture Manager.

 

DCV participated in the Barómetro de Valores de Integridad Empresarial (Business Integrity Values Barometer) organized by undación Generación Empresarial (FGE), in which well-known companies committed to integrity, ethics, and best practices were recognized.

In the seventh version of the "2023 Recognition of the Commitment to Integrity" barometer, the responsibility of companies was assessed in different areas through an internal diagnosis that considered, among other variables, if there are direct channels of communication between the Boards of Directors and workers.
"We are pleased to have been part of this event that accredits our integrity and compliance practices and that reflects our firm conviction that DCV's work must be conducted in strict compliance with corporate ethical and integrity values," said Sandra Valenzuela, People and Culture Manager.

 In this sense, "the mere fact of participating allows us to be part of an exercise of transparency with the aim - beyond any distinctions - to constantly improve our processes, tools, and prevention systems. We will continue working collaboratively in 2024 to create a work environment inspired by best practices, under the company's purpose and as part of its strategy, because it directly impacts the sustainability of our operations," she added.
It must be mentioned that the barometer measured the definition, experience, and communication of company values, the knowledge of anti-ethical behavior prevention tools, the presence of ethical conflicts, and the commitment of hierarchies to integrity within institutions.
