Regional Policy Dialogue“Towards a New Regional Stock Market" (CapiLAC)


In Washington DC, on May 21-22, ACSDA was present at the first Regional Policy Dialogue of the Capital Markets Sector of Latin America and the Caribbean (CapiLAC) entitled "Towards a New Regional Stock Market" organized by the Bank Inter-American Development Bank - IDB. The innovative meeting was aimed at the securities sector, with the intention of creating a forum for regulators from the region and the private sector, including fintechs from Peru and Colombia. ACSDA participated through the representation of the Vice President of Operations of the Stock Exchange of Colombia, Jorge Hernán Jaramillo, the Executive Vice President, General Manager of the Stock Exchange of Panama, S.A. Olga Cantillo, Chief Lawyer Central Securities Depository - DCV Fanny Tagle Arrizaga and Claudio Garin Operations and Services Manager from DCV who contributed to the discussion generated around the theme of "Infrastructures of financial markets and IOSCO principles in Latin America and the Caribbean", focusing on the experiences acquired by ACSDA and its members during the execution of the joint project with the IDB and which addresses directly this topic with the objective of improving together the Regional Market Infrastructures following the mentioned principles. Other topics included discussions on the Fintech scenario in the region, regional integration and competition for the capital markets sector, sustainable growth strategies and green finance. As a final message Mr. Juan Antonio Ketterer, IDB Division Chief: Connectivity, Markets and Finance, wanted to leave the following message: "The IDB is available to all, to worktogether, advance in development and continue to improve lives in the region: Moving forward in a shared model in the regional Stock Market is key to face this common challenge "
