2013 Economic and Financial Journalism Award (PEF), sponsored by DCV.

The Award Ceremony of the first version of the Economic and Financial Journalism Award (PEF) in Chile was held Monday the 26th of May.

 

The Association of Mutual Funds Administrators of Chile (AAFM) as organizer, along with Depósito Central de Valores (DCV) as sponsor, and the Inter-American Association of Journalists of Economy and Finance (Aipef Chile), as sponsor, thought essential to acknowledge the excellence and quality of the journalistic work within the financial sector concerning savings, investment and particularly, the mutual funds industry.

 

Fernando Yáñez, General Manager of DCV said, “all actors of the Chilean financial system have to take on – as part of our social role – the task of delivering ever more and better information. We are certain that we are living in another stage within the industry, where we have the duty to provide the public with all the information available so that the best investment decisions can be made”. In turn, Mónica Cavallini, General Manager of the AAFM added, “the information must be thorough, reliable, timely and all of that simple. The media is, if not the greatest contributor to this, one of the essential pieces, which is why it is a pleasure to recognize those who contribute in this matter, who had to understand a topic really well in order to write in an easy way what is difficult”.

 

The jury agreed to award Mónica Cerda Villalón, journalist of Revista Dinero (Money Magazine) with the “Honorable Mention – Best Penmanship” category on account of her coverage “Mutual Funds: the fashionable financial instrument, and Sebastián Valdenegro Toro, journalist of Diario Financiero (Financial Journal) in the category of first place of the 2013 Chilean Economic and Financial Award, for his coverage “The reforms that changed the face of the Capital Markets”.
