Depósito Central de Valores (DCV) achieved a good result of the XVI General Assembly of the Americas’ Central Securities Depositories Association (ACSDA), which brought together more than 70 representatives from 26 countries from America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

During the meeting –which took place over three days – the main topics focused on an overview of the direction of security depositories, international links, implementation of the Law on tax compliance for foreign accounts (FATCA), risk management, fraud prevention and new regulations for the industry of security depositories, among other matters.

Jorge Hernán Jaramillo, President of ACSDA and of Depósito de Valores de Colombia, DECEVAL, was pleased with the outcome of the meeting because it allowed delving deeper into the issues of the sector. “We keep a close eye on what is happening at the level of regulation in Europe and the U.S. as any change in the regulations or the implementation of a new law will undoubtedly have an impact that must be analyzed by the industry,” he said.

For his part, Fernando Yáñez, CEO of the DCV, valued the assembly, as “it is an opportunity to be with our peers and also to learn, update and share knowledge on the latest global trends in our industry.”

ACSDA is a nonprofit organization created in 1999 which has been steadily growing. The assembly is one of the opportunities ACSDA has to share information and experiences among its members, trends and success stories of services at a global level, to promote best practice recommendations in services such as securities deposit, clearing, settlement, risk management, among other issues, all of the above in an atmosphere of mutual cooperation and camaraderie.

There were several social activities during the three-day meeting sponsored by major brands that are well recognized in the financial field.
