There were two challenges presented by DCV. The first, related to the custody of securities, specifically the bond creation process. Its purpose was to make more efficient creating and depositing instruments using this technology. The second challenge, which was proposed by DCV Registros, involved proposing solutions that would allow for optimizing the physical transfer of shares process, in order to allow it to be carried out from diverse technological platforms in a safe and simple manner. Four of the participating teams, accompanied by a group of mentors from the organization, worked on the challenges posed by DCV. One of these teams was the overall winner of the 2018 Blockchain Hackathon by programming a prototype for the registry of shareholders. 2018 Blockchain Hackathon winning teams
The future of the financial market Andrés Araya, IT manager of the Stock Exchange, in his welcoming words recalled when 20 years ago the electronic auction project was an idea that was not feasible. At that time brokers worked by phone and out loud. “Today this wheel is just a monument,” he added, stating that Blockchain is the financial industry’s new project for the future, in the same way that electronic operations represented the future 20 years ago. AWe appreciate the great effort of all the teams and for contributing ideas aimed at innovating the financial market. In this sense, the 2018 Blockchain Hackathon had a group of high-level programmers, all of which had a very good understanding of the challenges presented. We also thank the event organizers, the Santiago Stock Exchange and its executives for receiving us in such a majestic location, which provided us with an optimal collaborative environment for carrying out the Hackathon. Finally, we highlight DCV’s team for their commitment and enthusiasm, especially Alejandra Cabezas, head of the Corporate Capital Events department; Claudio Calderón, Eduardo Roa and Sebastián Allende, heads of the New Businesses area, for their incredible technical management and the support provided to the programmers in each of the challenges. Likewise, Hernán Neira, Head of Capital Events, and Mauricio Ainzúa, Assistant Manager of Issuers Service, which were responsible for presenting the challenges and motivating the teams of developers.
