January 2018: Portafolio of investments held in DCV exceeds USD 400 billion

Santiago, Monday, February 12th, 2018. The balance of the investment portfolio under the custody of Deposito Central de Valores (DCV) as of January of this year amounted in total to UF 9,420.7 million (equivalent to USD 418.1 billion). This figure represents a new record in the amount under the custody of the entity, accumulating an increase of 17.9% compared to January 2017 and 3.7% compared to last December.

These results are a milestone in the history of DCV, an entity that was created 25 years ago, in response to the growing demand generated by the modernization of the securities market, a time when the need to adopt international standards to operate in markets increasingly demanding and globalized was already envisioned.

The composition of the investment portfolio on deposit as of January of this year, is composed of 99.6% national custody and 0.4% international custody and, depending on the type of instrument, 43.9% corresponds to fixed income instruments, 37% to equity instruments and 19.1% to money market instruments.

At the beginning of its operation, 100% of the instruments held by DCV were in printed form. At present, 97.9% are electronic instruments and 2.2% are printed instruments.
