FIAB High Tech 2017 was held at the W Hotel on April 26th and 27th. It is an event organized by the Santiago Exchange and the Ibero-American Federation of Exchanges, FIAB. The CEO’s, CTO’s and CIOs of Latin America’s most important exchanges participated in this event, where their main challenges were discussed, and they also received feedback on the market’s key players; business leaders, IT, infrastructure and architecture of the region. Some of DCV’s executives attended as guests of the financial market. “It was an interesting opportunity to meet and discuss matters that all participants of the financial market must be aware of” said Claudio Calderón, head of business projects at DCV.. President of FIAB and General Manager of the Santiago Exchange, welcomed over 200 attendees, and introduced the topics of the meeting, with the assistance of Marie Weick, General Manager of IBM, who spoke about the Blockchain and the development they are undertaking. Another important part of the FIAB High Tech 2017 was the Hackaton, a competition where groups of innovators participated in order to develop a solution for the financial market (exchanges), by means of the free use of technologies and platforms (web, desktop or mobile application); as well as the election of the programming language. The 9 teams that participated had 24 hours to deliver their work, and were supported by mentors of the Santiago Exchange, who answered the questions of the teams at all times. The winners of the Hackathon will have the possibility to be incubated by the 3IE Institute and to obtain financing for up to 60,000,000 pesos, along with a USD 5.000 award.
