Mujeres Empresarias and Revista Capital, with DCV’s support, recognize the 2018 Female Executive of the Year

In a ceremony held at TVN’s premises, Mujeres Empresarias and Revista Capital recognized Katharina Jenny Arroyo, Health and Safety Corporate Manager of Antofagasta Minerals, as the 2018 Female Executive of the Year, an award that recognizes women who hold high executive positions and who stand out for their impact, development, innovation and vision of the future. The initiative, which takes place for the ninth consecutive year, is supported by the Depósito Central de Valores in collaboration with other entities such as Scotiabank, Sodexo, EY and Volvo.

Katharina Jenny Arroyo has had an outstanding career in the mining industry in companies such as Codelco, Minera Spence, and Minera Escondida. The executive is a Mining Civil Engineer who graduated from Universidad de Santiago de Chile and holds an MBA from Universidad Católica. “I am proud to have been the only finalist and winner belonging to the mining industry. This shows us that the mining industry is making progress in being friendlier, in incorporating and allowing women to develop. This award tells us that it is possible to reconcile motherhood and perform optimally and efficiently in this industry”, pointed out the winner during the award ceremony.

In addition, among the 2018 Female Executive of the Year finalists were Marisol Bravo, Corporate Affairs Manager of CCU; Isabel Margarita Bravo, Finance and Purchasing Manager of Telefónica; Marisa Kausel, General Manager of EFE; Valeria Flen, General Manager of Soprole; Carolina del Río, General Manager of Clarke, Modet & Co.; and Marcia Carrasco, Facilities Manager of Rabofinance

Francisca Valdés, Executive Director of Mujeres Empresarias added that “through this Award, we deliver a space that promotes female leadership and participation by women in decision-making positions, giving greater visibility to women who have stood out and developed professionally, and who have carried out their careers in the business world and managed to occupy positions of high responsibility”.

Fernando Yañez, DCV’s General Manager, was part of the jury that selected the finalists of the Female Executive Award along with other prominent representatives of the public and private world: Carmen Román, Legal and Public Affairs Manager of Walmart Chile and Winner of the 2017 Female Executive Award; Rossana Costa, Advisor to the Central Bank and Carolina Cuevas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Women and Gender Equity, among others.
