New rules for valuing investments in FFMM units of type 2 to 8.

Dear Participants:

We are pleased to report that the response from the Superintendencia de Pensiones (SP) at the request of DCV in conjunction with the Asociación de AFP and the Asociación de Fondos Mutuos, made to facilitate investment in national mutual funds of type 2 to 8 by Pension Funds.
 
On January 9, 2012, the Superintendencia de Pensiones published an official letter setting the valuation of the investments in units of mutual funds: “as of this date, in the case that Pension Funds acquire units in a national mutual funds of type 2 to 8, the day of the transaction the invested amount is recorded in the asset account Valores por Depositar, proceeding from the next business day to record the acquired units according to prices determined by the Superintendencia in the asset account Inversiones en Empresas. Moreover, the purchase of mutual funds should be reported in Form D-22 of the Daily Report corresponding to the business day following the transaction”.   
   
We invite our participants to familiarize themselves with the service that the DCV has available to oversee units of national mutual funds of types 2 to 8, and in particular the AFPs to take advantage of this new option.
